Anderson Quarries case study
Software built around the operation — and still evolving more than a decade later.
Anderson Quarries needed software that followed the way its business actually worked. Cantrell Solutions built a custom operational platform connecting customer orders, inventory, production, shipping, billing, customer access, and the business rules between them.
More than a decade later, that software is still part of the daily operation — and Cantrell Solutions is still improving it as the business changes.
The challenge
Orders, inventory, production, and shipping had to work as one operation.
Every customer order had to move through inventory, physical locations, production processes, shipping, billing, customer-specific rules, and the people responsible for each step.
Cantrell Solutions built a custom system around those real workflows instead of forcing the operation into a standard template.
The resulting platform became a working part of the business rather than a one-time technology project.
Built around the work
The details that matter in the real operation.
The value is not a long feature list. It is the way the platform connects the people, information, and business rules required to move work forward.
Customer orders, acknowledgements, pricing, and customer-specific rules.
Quantities, physical locations, receiving, and item movement.
Process statuses plus laser and sandblast workflows.
Individual and aggregate weights, shipping, and billing-related workflow.
Customer logins and customer-facing order information.
Operational visibility and controls that let authorized users manage the work.
Built to change
A long-running system shaped by real use.
- 2013–2014
Embedded operational use
The platform was already supporting inventory and location management, pricing administration, receiving, production statuses, order workflow, billing-related activity, and changes shaped by employees using it every day.
- 2015
Part of the business process
As staffing responsibilities changed, incoming-order routing inside the platform changed with them. The system had become part of Anderson’s institutional operating process, not an application sitting beside it.
- 2026
Still in production
The platform continues receiving customer-login fixes, customer-specific business rules, shipping improvements, inventory reporting changes, pricing-display controls, and other incremental enhancements requested by real users.
Still improving
Small changes keep the software aligned with the business.
One 2026 request moved individual weights directly into the shipping workflow instead of showing only aggregate values. The improvement quickly became part of the user’s normal work.
Another changed printed acknowledgements so selected customers would never see pricing. Other recent work has addressed duplicate orders, automatic “NO PULL” rules, acknowledgement routing, inventory reporting, customer login behavior, and the handling of notes and comments.
This pattern has repeated for years: employees identify friction or an idea, Cantrell Solutions understands the operational context, and the software evolves without requiring the business to start over.
Beyond an internal database
Internal and customer-facing software.
The platform also supports customer logins and order-related access. That creates a larger responsibility: changes have to preserve the internal operation while supporting customers who depend on the system from outside the company.
The result
Software became part of the operating fabric.
Cantrell Solutions did not deliver a prototype and disappear. The platform became part of Anderson Quarries’ day-to-day operation and remained useful because it continued changing with the company.
Understand the business first. Build around the real operation. Keep improving the system as the operation changes.

Have important software that needs to keep working while the business changes?
Whether the right answer is a new operational system, an integration, a focused improvement, or careful modernization of an older application, Cantrell Solutions starts by understanding what the business cannot afford to lose.
